Hello girls, it’s Irene here! As you probably noticed I’ve recently taken a little break from the blog. The last month has been really hard. No big changes in my life, but a lot of daily challenges and walls to break, so I needed more time for me and my family.
Now things are slowly getting better and better so I can’t wait to come back to the fab DIY/decor world. And what a better way to start again then a birthday party?
Ciao ragazze, è Irene che scrive! Dopo un mesetto di pausa circa, torno a lavorare al mio tanto amato blog! Il mese appena trascorso è stato un mese abbastanza difficile dal punto di vista personale. Nessun grosso cambiamento o sconvolgimento, solo tante sfide quotidiane e muri da abbattere un giorno alla volta.
Ora però che le cose stanno lentamente tornando al loro posto ho una gran voglia di ri-immergermi nel mondo del decor e del fai-da-te. E quale modo migliore per ripartire se non una festa di compleanno?

On March 19 I turned 27 (wait what? where did the time go? yesterday I was 18 and now I’m already 27? It’s unbelievable!!). To celebrate my birthday I decided to embrace the One O spirit and host a little party with friends. We spent half of the day at home and the other half at a local park, chit-chatting, sunbathing and playing board games.
Il 19 marzo, infatti, ho spento ben 27 candeline (caspita 27! ma dove diavolo sono finiti gli anni fra i 18 e i 27???). Così, come piace a noi ragazze One O, ho organizzato una festicciola fra amici. Una parte a casa ed una all’aperto, fra chiacchiere, teli stesi al sole e giochi di società.

Talking about the home decor part it was a stroke of luck. Just a couple of weeks before my bday, we spotted this lovely website called
VeagooParty full of cute party stuff. All in pastel colors.
Per quanto riguarda la parte di allestimento quest’anno sono stata fortunatissima. Ho trovato tutto ciò che mi occorreva su VegaooParty, sito carinissimo su cui ho trovato moltissimi accessori per feste dai toni pastello.

So I easily decorated the table. I place a dusty pink banner in the center, used lovely hexagonal plates, added simple yet chic glasses and completed the look with a mix and match of glass bottles, flowers, plants and ombré banners. Last but not least Cristina and I made a birthday cake.
Così ho preparato la tavola in estrema semplicità. Ho posto un runner rosa al centro, utilizzato questi adorabili piatti di carta esagonali, aggiunto calici pratici e dalle linee eleganti ed infine decorato il tutto con bottigliette di vetro di diverse altezze, fiori, piantine e bandierine ombré. Ultima, ma non certo per importanza, la mia torta, vera protagonista della scena.

My cake was a simple sponge cake, decorated with a white fondant (found on
VegaooParty as well), some aqua feathers and those pretty long candles.
La torta è un semplice pandispagna, reso più attuale dalla pasta di zucchero (trovata sempre su VegaooParty), da alcune piume non edibili poste alla base e da queste carinissime candeline lunghe lunghe in tono con la tavola.

I know! This is not a Pinterest kind of cake. But please be kind! It was our very first time using fondant and we are very proud of the final result. So dear Buddy Valastro, look at your back, we might become the next cake boss

Sì lo so! La pasta di zucchero non è stesa in modo perfetto, ma perdonateci! Era la primissima volta che io e Cristina ci cimentavamo con questo genere di torte e nel nostro piccolo ora ci sentiamo delle vere boss delle torte ![😛]()

And what about the wall banners? I just bought some plain white banners and add this faded effect using watercolor. Simple yet cute, don’t you think so?
E che ne pensate di questa decorazione semplice per i muri? Non ho fatto altro che ordinare delle semplici bandierine bianche e ricreare questo effetto sfumato con gli acquerelli. Semplice ma d’effetto non trovate?
